Shigaraki Kohiki Sake Cup
A minimalist yet sophisticated approach to the all time classic sake cup. Each piece is crafted by hand in the heartlands of Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture. Its distinct and rich look is the product of a thorough manufacturing process in the master’s anagama kiln, using the “Kohiki” technique: Anagama kilns are usually used to cure pieces without any exterior glossy treatment – however, these pieces have been applied a fine powder coating that, combined with the unique characteristics of the furnace, result in a finish that would not be possible to achieve in more conventional gas or electric furnaces.
Of course, it can also be used as a water/tea cup!
Select your desired finish of choice – or let nature decide if you don’t have a particular preference!
Measurements: 7.2cm (diameter), 6.9cm (height)
*The pieces in the pictures are the only stock available, but we can commission similar examples to the master for you. Please feel free to contact us for further information in this regard!
